Veterans

Support that understands service, injury, recovery and the reality of rebuilding life afterwards.

At Healthsec Rehab, we are proud to support veterans with expert physiotherapy and rehabilitation that is practical, respectful, and built around real life. Whether you are recovering from surgery, living with a long-term injury, managing pain, or trying to regain confidence in your mobility, we are here to help.
We know many veterans do not want fuss. They want straight answers, experienced clinicians, and a plan that actually helps. That is exactly how we work.

How we Support  Veterans

We provide physiotherapy and rehabilitation for a wide range of needs, including:
• Post-operative rehabilitation
• Spinal injury rehabilitation
• Neurological rehabilitation
• Back, neck and joint pain
• Reduced mobility and balance
• Long-term musculoskeletal problems
• Functional rehabilitation after illness or injury
• Strength, movement and confidence rebuilding
• Prehabilitation before surgery
• Ongoing support for more complex recovery journeys

Our aim is not just to reduce symptoms. It is to help you move better, function better, and feel more confident in everyday life.

What to expect

We keep the process simple and clear.

1. Initial conversation

You can call us directly or request a 15-minute telephone consultation with one of our physiotherapists. This gives you the chance to explain what is going on, ask questions, and decide whether the service feels right for you.

2. Full assessment

If we are the right fit, we will arrange a full assessment. This can take place in clinic, in your home, or in a suitable community location depending on your needs.

3. Personalised rehabilitation plan

Following your assessment, we create a tailored programme designed around your goals, condition, current ability, and the type of support you need.

4. Ongoing treatment and review

We monitor progress, adapt the plan when needed, and keep the focus on meaningful outcomes. Recovery is not always linear, so your support should not be rigid.

Support in the setting that works best for you

Not everybody wants to attend a clinic. Not everybody can.

That is why we offer rehabilitation in a range of settings, including:
clinic-based appointments
home visits
community-based rehabilitation
blended support across more than one setting, where appropriate
This flexibility allows us to deliver care in a way that feels practical, accessible, and relevant to everyday life.

Supporting recovery before and after surgery

For some veterans, rehabilitation forms part of a wider treatment journey that may include orthopaedic care, surgery, or specialist input.
We provide both pre-operative and post-operative rehabilitation, helping veterans prepare physically before surgery and continue recovery afterwards with structured, clinically informed support.
This includes supporting people as they transition from hospital-based care back into home and community life, where confidence, routine, strength, and independence often need rebuilding step by step.

We accept self-referrals as well as referrals from healthcare professionals, and we also work closely with the Veterans Orthopaedic Centre at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital (RJAH) to support post-operative recovery and onward rehabilitation.

  • Pre Operative
  • Post Operative
  • Ongoing recovery

Alex – Healthsec Rehab Veteran Ambassador

Alex Ball

Meet Alex, our Veterans’ Ambassador and a former Sergeant in the Royal Military Police. After sustaining a life-changing spinal injury during her service, Alex experienced firsthand the transformative power of specialised rehabilitation. Today, she is a powerful advocate for the veteran community, sharing her personal journey to highlight how tailored treatments, like hydrotherapy, can restore independence and quality of life.

At Healthsec Rehab, Alex bridges the gap between clinical care and the unique needs of service members, ensuring that those who served have a dedicated voice and a clear path toward functional recovery.
Her story reflects something many veterans know all too well: recovery is rarely simple, tidy, or quick. It takes resilience, support, and access to the right rehabilitation at the right time.
Alex helps bring visibility to the importance of veteran rehabilitation and the difference that personalised, compassionate care can make. Her role as an ambassador is not about image. It is about representing the reality of recovery and helping others feel seen, supported, and encouraged to take that first step.

Accessing our services

Sometimes the first enquiry comes from the veteran. Sometimes it comes from the person watching them struggle.
If you are a partner, family member, friend, or carer trying to support someone who is living with pain, reduced mobility, post-surgical recovery, or physical decline, you are welcome to contact us on their behalf.
We know that many veterans minimise what they are dealing with. We also know how much difference the right support can make when somebody finally gets access to it.
Our approach is always respectful, clear, and centred around the individual.
